Ögeİnsan-doğa-mimari tasarım ilişkisi bağlamında yeni-yerel kavramı: Türkiye özelinde bir tasarım önermesi(Lisansüstü Eğitim Enstitüsü, 2024-10-23) Karcı, Yaşar Emir ; Yazıcı, Sevil ; 502211022 ; Mimari TasarımThe relationship between nature and architectural design from human perspective has constantly transformed with developments and various influences in historical processes. By examining current attitude of human toward nature and the damage, created by human today, this thesis focuses on the relationship between nature, human and architectural design. The aim is to re-establish and improve, how these concepts are related to each other. In the first part of the thesis, the concept of vernacularity and related concepts of vernacular architectural design in different disciplines are analyzed. In order to understand the interaction of vernacular approaches with architecture, architectural design requirements are examined, and additionally vernacular architectural design parameters are presented. In addition to this study, examples of various regions in Türkiye are examined in detail and how these examples are shaped in line with vernacular materials, climate, topography and cultural needs and how they meet the architectural design requirements of spatial organization, function, form, performance, material and production techniques. Later on, the condition of the concepts of digitality and vernacularity in contemporary architectural design and their place in today's architectural design approaches are shared. Digital design tools and methods, and the opportunities offered by these tools are discussed with the aim of discussing the design potentials through sustainability and interaction with vernacular values in architectural design process. In this context, how concepts such as digital design, digital tectonics, performance-based design, material systems and digital fabrication can be integrated with vernacular architecture, are evaluated within the thesis. In addition to these examples, the computational design and production method study on local materials, which is the early research of the method, is included. In the following steps, the above-mentioned concepts are addressed within the scope of the new-vernacular architectural design. In this direction, the "New-Vernacular Architectural Design Methodology" (NVA-DM), that combines vernacular architectural features and contemporary design requirements, is developed. Within the scope of the thesis, architectural design requirements are integrated to the vernacular architectural parameters. As a part the scope of the methodology, this integration is deemed important in terms of the providing sustainable and functional design solutions in the environmental and cultural context. The steps of NVA-DM are turned into a systematic process that can be repeatable and reapplied as a new design methodology. In this context, in order to test the validity of NVA-DM, repeated applications were carried out by three participants, who received training in the discipline of architecture. The strengths of the methodology, as well as limitations and potentials were determined. The findings revealed that NVA-DM successfully combined vernacular architecture with contemporary design methods. As a result, this thesis presents a new methodological framework for integrating vernacular architecture with contemporary approaches in architectural design and demonstrates the applicability of this framework in different geographical regions in Türkiye and the world.
