Düş Ve Tasarım: Temel Bir Oluşuma İlişkin Soruşturma

Abstract

Bu tez çalışmasının amacı, birçok disiplinde araştırma konusu olan “düş” kavramının tasarım disiplinleri ve tasarımcı için potansiyellerini araştırmaktır. Bu çalışmada “düş” kavramı her üç anlam karşılığıyla birlikte yer alır: Gece gerçekleşen bir aktivite olarak “düş görmek”; gündüz gerçekleşen bir aktivite olarak “düş kurmak” ve bir istek/arzu ifadesi olarak “düş”. Düş kavramının tasarım disiplinlerindeki kazanımlarına işaret etmek için öncelikle diğer disiplinlerin düş araştırmalarından yararlanılır. Düşün felsefedeki açılımına bakmak, düş hakkında ilk fikirleri almak adına önemlidir. Sanat, düş mitleri ve efsanelerinden düşten beslenen sanatçıların üretimlerine uzanarak, sanatta “düşsel tasarım” konusunu örnekler ve vurgular. Psikoloji ve bilimin ise düşe ilişkin çalışmaları nispeten daha yenidir. Bu disiplinlerde “düş”e bakmak, düşün biyolojik işleyişini anlamak ve tasarımcının düşü anlamlandırması açısından önemlidir. Tüm bu disiplinlerden tasarıma taşınan kavramların tasarım sürecinde ve tasarımcı düşünme yönteminde yeri ve önemi; düş ve tasarım ilişkisinden tasarımın ve tasarımcının kazanımları araştırılır. Sonuç olarak bu çalışma için, tasarımcının üretimindeki öznel arka plan “düş” kavramıdır. Düş, tasarımcıya daha esnek ve özgür bir düşünme alanı yaratır; kendi tasarım sürecini ve temsil yöntemini bulmasında, ona (tasarımcıya) yeni bir yol sunar. Bu yeni yol, günümüz yeni tasarım yaklaşımları için de önemli potansiyeller barındırır.

The aim of this dissertation is to research into the potentials of the concept of “imagination”-a subject that has taken interest of many scientific fields- for the design diciplines and designer himself. The idea of “imagination” is taken with its three-fold meaning: “Dreaming” as a night time activity, “day-dreaming” as a daytime activity and “dream” as an expression of desire/aspiration. In order to signify the acquisitions of “imagination” within the spheres of various design practices, primary focus is given to the research on dreams on other diciplines. Perspectives of imagination in the field of philosophy sets a ground for an initial understanding of the subject. Art; through the journey of dream myths and and tales to the work of the artist; illustrates and emphasizes “dream-artwork/design”. Psychology and science’s comperatively recent inquiry into dreams delves into the biological inner workings of dream and works as a device for designer to grasp the idea of dream itself. The research questions place and importance of the concepts taken from those diciplines to the mind of designers and the process of design; acquisitions of design work and designers borne out of the relation between design and dreams. As a result, this study takes the “imagination” as a subjective background for designer’s production process. Imagination launches a flexible and free thinking ground and it helps the designer to find a new way of design process and new representation methods. This new ground, made possible with the interaction of imagination and design is full of potential for today’s innovative design approaches.
