Kongre Turizminin İstanbul’un Yapısal Değişimine Etkisi Dünyadan Örnekler İle İstanbul’daki Kongre Merkezlerinin Özellikleri

Abstract

Teknoloji ve bilgi endüstrisindeki büyük gelişmelere bağlı olarak, kişisel seviyede ilişki ve iletişime duyulan ihtiyaç, problemleri birlikte çözme ve yenilik arama eğilimi, düşünme ve görüş açılarının paylaşılması isteği toplantıların dünya üzerindeki yayılımını etkilemiştir. Toplantıların ve katılımcıların artması ile olay bir turizm hareketi olayı olarak değerlendirilmeye başlamıştır. Ulusal, uluslararası yada bölgesel özellikte organize edilen bu tür toplantılara genel olarak “Kongre Turizmi” adı verilmektedir. Bu çalışmada; İstanbul’un, coğrafik ve stratejik konumundan, tarih boyunca edindiği birikimlerden, dinamik ve yerine getirdiği işlevlerden kaynaklanan yapısı, uluslararası olma özelliği taşıyabilen ve sahip olduğu potansiyeller doğrultusunda, dünya çapında önem kazanan kongre kentleri arasındaki durumunu ortaya çıkarmak amaçlanmaktadır. Çalışmada belirlenen amaca ulaşmak için izlenen yöntem; çalışma kapsamına alınan örnek kentlerdeki kongre merkezleri ile İstanbul’daki mevcut yapının ortaya koyularak değerlendirilmesidir. Sonuçta, dünyadan örnek kongre kentleri ile İstanbul’un karşılaştırılmalı değerlendirmesi yapılmış, benzerlikler, farklılıklar ve sorunlar ortaya konmuştur.

Depending on the great developments on technology and information, the need for individual relations and communication; the tendency for common solutions for the problems and searching for innovations and the desire for sharing the different point of views have all influenced the spreading out of the meetings all around the world. As the number of the meetings and the participants are increasing, the events have started to being evaluated as a tourism activity. The meetings which are organized in national, international or regional characteristics are called “ congress tourism” In this study, the objective is to determine the Istanbul’s situation between the world wide congress cities, in terms of its geographic and strategic location, the accumulation gained throughout the history, its structure depending on the dynamism and the functions that were implemented, being an international congress city and the potentials possessed. The method that was followed in the study, is the detailed definition of the congress centers in the sample cities and the current structure in Istanbul. As a result the comperative evaluation of the sample cities in the world and Istanbul are made and similarities, discrepancies and the problems have been determined.
