İstanbul'un Aurası Ve Öteki

Abstract

Bu çalışmada adına ister “kalıp yargı”, ister “ortak şehir imgesi” diyelim, şehrin zihinlerdeki kimi zaman birbirleriyle kesişerek kimi zaman tamamen zıtlaşarak başka İstanbul’ların tasvir edilmesini sağlıyan karşılıkları ele alınır. Ancak bu çalışma kapsamında incelenen İstanbul’ların bir ortak noktası var; o da İstanbul’u anlatmak için öncelikle bir “öteki” tarif etme ihtiyacı. Bu çalışmanın amacını; değişen şehrin, edebiyat metinlerindeki izdüşümleri aracılığı ile aurasını, şehrin aurasının geçirdiği değişimleri ve bu aurada ötekinin rolünü incelemek oluşturur. Tezin kuramsal çerçevesini oluşturmak için gündelik kentleşme paradigması ele alınır ve ilerleyen bölümlerde Tanzimat’tan bugüne, çeşitli dönemlere ait edebiyat eserlerindeki İstanbul imgesi ve bu imgede öteki incelenir. Sonuç bölümünde, tezin bulguları tartışılır.

Like all other cities, Istanbul is a city which has diverse reflections in people’s mind which have been discussed in this thesis. These reflections which we might either assume as “rigid estimations” or “collective city image”, give us a chance to reach definitions of varied Istanbuls whose common point is to define other as a beginning on the way to describe the city. The aim of this thesis is to discover the role of the “other” in the “aura” of the city by means of the projections of the city within the literature. In order to focus on the theoretical outline of the thesis, everyday urbanism as an actual urbanism paradigm, is an approach which might be helpful to clarify Istanbul’s aura and its relationship with the existence of other and in the following parts the literature texts in a period starting from Tanzimat ending today are evaluated to discover the other in the aura of İstanbul. In the conclusion part, the outcomes of the thesis are discussed.
