Abstract
The potential of providing performance advantage of Information Technology has been an intriguing subject for academicians and practitioners. Therefore, strategic IT value and its impact on performance has been researched in numerous academic studies for years. In this study, resource based view is used to explain the underlying mechanisms about the contribution of information technology on superior bank branch performance. Resource based view is based on the idea that core competencies are the essential items for the firms in order to compete in the market. Drawing from this notion, this study researches the effect of IS resources and capabilities on branch performance. To clarify the relationship between those constructs, a survey instrument was constructed through a process that included past research in strategic management and management information systems. Gathered data by means of survey, were analyzed by using Structural Equation Modeling and conducted hypotheses were tested. As a result, we found that branch performance is influenced by IS capabilities and also IS capabilities are influenced by IS resources.
