Özet
This thesis investigates the barriers to agile implementation in traditional companies using multi-criteria decision making approaches. The study aims to identify and analyze the critical factors hindering agile transformation and provide insights for organizations embarking on this journey. The research employs the Analytic Network Process (ANP) to evaluate barriers and prioritize them based on their impact on agile implementation. In addition to ANP, the study uses Step Wise Weight Assessment Ratio Analysis (SWARA) and Weighted Aggregated Sum Product Assessment (WASPAS) to compare the findings and ensure robust analysis. This combination of methods allows for a thorough examination of the issues involved in agile transformation. Identified key barriers include resistance to change, lack of proper agile framework guidelines, poor documentation, and challenges in integration and testing. The study aims to reveal that overcoming these barriers requires effective planning, understanding the organization and continuous improvements to agile implementation. The thesis also highlights the importance of understanding the specific needs of different industries and adapting agile methodologies according to their needs. For instance, sectors with regulatory requirements, such as healthcare and aerospace, face unique challenges in agile adoption due to government involvement. Addressing these sector-specific barriers is crucial for the successful implementation of agile practices. By providing a comprehensive analysis of the barriers to agile transformation, this thesis contributes to the existing body of knowledge and offers practical insights for traditional companies. The findings underscore the importance of a strategic approach to agile implementation, emphasizing the need for organizational commitment and a supportive culture. A significant aspect of this study is the detailed examination of demographic-specific analyses within the context of agile adoption. By considering the responses of decision makers from various backgrounds, the study aims to provide an understanding of how different sectors perceive the challenges of agile transformation. The demographic analysis highlights results from different agile adoption strategies. Such insights are invaluable for organizations seeking to implement agile methodologies in a manner that aligns with their unique operational circumstances. In conclusion, this study advocates for a tailored approach to agile adoption, considering the unique characteristics and requirements of each organization. By addressing the identified barriers and leveraging the insights provided by the multi-criteria decision-making methods, companies can improve their structures and company cultures to be better prepared for agile transformation, especially in an increasingly dynamic business environment. This thesis aims to serve as a resource for practitioners and scholars alike, offering a detailed explanations for each of the barriers and their ranking in order to understand and overcome the challenges of agile transformation in traditional companies.
