Orta Çağ Kent Surlarına Bir Örnek: Galata Surları Ve Restitüsyon Sorunları

Abstract

Bu tez çalışmasının amacı, Cenevizler tarafından 14 ve 15. yüzyıllarda inşa edilen, hakkında çok sayıda çalışma bulunmasına rağmen günümüzde hala bilinmeyen yönleri bulunan ve korunmasına dair belirli bir çalışma bulunmayan Galata Surları'nın, Cenevizler'in anavatanı olan Cenova Kent Surları ile karşılaştırılması ve görsel ve yazılı kaynaklardan faydalanarak mimari özelliklerini ortaya çıkarmaktır. Galata Surları'nın fotoğraf yaygınlaşmadan yıkılmış olması, restitüsyon sorunlarını oluşturan etkenlerin başında gelmektedir. Surların tarihi hakkında çalışmalar bulunmasına rağmen, kendi içinde nasıl bir sistemi olduğuna dair kesin ve detaylı bilgi elde edilememektedir. Mevcut parçaların az sayıda ve zarar görmüş olması da bu durumu zorlaştırmaktadır. Çalışmada, mevcut belgeler ışığında Galata Surları'na dair mümkün olduğunca detaylı bilgi elde edilmesi ve Cenova Surları ile karşılaştırma yoluyla iki kent arasındaki etkileşimin düzeyinin belirlenmesi ile restitüsyon sorunlarına cevap aranmıştır.

The aim of this thesis study is to reveal the architectural features of Walls of Galata, which were built by the Genoese in 14th and 15th centuries, subjected to many studies but yet not very well known and not well preserved. To achieve this aim, many visual data and written documents are collected and Walls of Galata are compared with Walls of Genoa to understand the interaction between two cities. Restitution problems are caused by the destruction of Walls of Galata before photographs became widespread. Although there are research studies on the history of these walls, it is difficult to obtain certain and detailed information about their system. As being very few and seriously damaged in time, the existing parts make this difficult, too. In the study, by collecting information as much as possible with the help of present documents about Walls of Galata and by specifying the level of the interaction between Walls of Genoa and Galata with comparison, restitution problems are tried to be resolved.
