Arşiv Belgeleri Işığında Hezaren Han’ın Yapısal Çözümlemesi

Abstract

Bugün Galata’nın en önemli akslarından biri olan Voyvoda Caddesi, bu özelliğini Ortaçağ’dan beri sürdürdüğü bilinmektedir. Bu önemin kaynağı da caddenin Galata iç surlarının izlerini takip etmiş olmasıdır. Caddede bulunan önemli anıtsal yapılar içinde bu tezin konusunu oluşturan Hezaren Han nispeten daha mütevazı bir ölçektedir. Zaten cadde içinde bulunduğu konum, bir dönem Hezaren Sokak olarak anılan ve caddenin daha küçük ölçekli yapılarının bulunduğu bir bölümüdür. Ancak yapı yakından incelendiğinde, hakkındaki bilgi ve belgelere ulaşıldığında, gerek caddenin gerek İstanbul’un mimarlık tarihindeki önemi ortaya çıkmaktadır. Çalışma üç ana bölümden oluşmaktadır; yapının ve bulunduğu arsanın tarihsel gelişimi, yapının bugünkü durumunun belgelenmesi ve arşiv belgeleri ışığında yapının çözümlenmesi. Arşivde bulunan kontrat ve ekindeki keşif belgeleri sayesinde, yapıdaki kullanılan malzemeler, bu malzemelerin miktarları, fiyatları, yapım teknikleri ve strüktürel detaylar gibi bilgiler yer almaktadır. Çalışmanın esas kapsamını ise arşiv belgelerinde yer alan bu detaylı bilgilerin, yapı üzerinde takip edilmesi, planlama ile uygulama aşamasının uyumunun incelenmesi ve dönemin yapım teknikleri hakkında daha detaylı bilgilerin elde edilmeye çalışılması oluşturmaktadır.

Voyvoda Street, one of the most important axis of Galata today, keeps this importance since the Middle Ages. The source of this importance is that the street follows the traces of the inner city walls. Hezaren Han is relatively a modest building compared to the other monumental buildings on the street. Anyhow, the building is located in a part of the street which is occupied by smaller scaled buildings. But when the building is examined closer and when the documents related to the history of the building is gathered, it is easier to understand the importance of building for both the street and the history of architecture of İstanbul. This thesis consists of three main parts; the history of the building and the its plot, documenting the current situation and analysing the building using the archive documents. The contract and the cost assessments documents attached to the contract covers information the building materials, quantity and the prices of these materials, building techniques and structural details. The main scope of the thesis is to analyze the building through the detailed information in the documents, comparing the consistency of the planned work and the realized work, gathering detailed information on the building techniques of that period.
