Boğaziçi Iskelelerındekı İşlevsel Değişimin Mekansal Etkileri

Abstract

İstanbul için Boğaziçi tarih boyunca özel bir mekan olmuştur. Doğal bir oluşum olan Boğaziçi, görsel zenginliği ile İstanbul un kentsel kimliğinin önemli bir parçası olmuştur.Kentin gelişim süreci içerisinde Boğaziçi ilk zamanlarda mesire alanları olarak kullanılırken zamanla imara açılarak, önce küçük balıkçı köyleri daha sonra giderek büyüyerek birer semt haline gelmiştir. Bu gelişim süreci içerisinde deniz ulaşımını ve Şirket-i Hayriye nin rolünün de altını çizmek gerekmektedir. Şirket-i Hayriye denilince vapurlar ve bu vapurların yanaştığı Boğaziçi İskeleleri akla gelmektedir. İskeleler Boğaz Semtlerinin gelişiminde , mekan kurgularının oluşumunda önemli birer öğe olmuşlardır. Son elli yılda ulaşım türlerinin gelişimi ile deniz ulaşımı ve vapur iskeleleri giderek önemini kaybetmişlerdir. Yaşanan gelişim süreci, hazırlanan bu çalışmayla ortaya konmaya çalışılmıştır.

Bosphorus has been an exceptional location for istanbul throughout the history, Being a natural geological formation, Bosphorus is an important part of the Istanbul s urban identity with its picturesque view and history. in the process of urban development, Bosphorus consisted of recreation spots and by the time, it has been opened to construction development, and at the beginning, fisher villages were constructed. Expanding gradually, the villages were turned into greater districts. in this process of development, the naval transport and the role of the Sirket-i Hayriyye (Public Benefit Company) should also be underlined. When we think of Sirket-i Hayriyye, first comes to our mind the steamers and the piers where the they land. The piers have been a considerable element in development of the Bosphorus neighborhoods. They somehow influence the spatial organizations. In the last 50 years, with the developing means of transport, the steamer piers lost their importance to a great extent. in this study, the development process was analyzed.
