Damatris Sarayı Restorasyon Projesi

Abstract

Bu çalışma kapsamında, İstanbul İli, Sancaktepe İlçesi, Eyüp Sultan Mahallesi’nde bulunan Damatris Sarayı’nın günümüze ulaşan kalıntılarının rölöve, restitüsyon, restorasyon projelerinin hazırlanması, belgelenerek tarihsel açıdan incelenmesi ve benzer diğer Bizans sarayları ile karşılaştırılması hedeflenmiştir. Rölövenin hazırlanmasına, yapının mevcut durumunun çizilmesi ve total station ile ölçülerinin alınması ile başlanmıştır. Daha sonra, bilgisayar ortamında yapının plan, kesit ve cephelerinin çizimleri hazırlanmış, hasar ve malzeme analizleri yapılmış, belgelenmesi tamamlanmıştır. Damatris Sarayı’nın yazılı kaynaklardan ve mevcut kalıntılardan yararlanılarak restitüsyonu yapılmış, ardından, yapının korunması için restorasyon projelerinin hazırlanmasına çalışılmıştır. Damatris Sarayı, çeşitli kaynaklarda yazlık saray veya sayfiye sarayı olarak anılmaktadır. Bu nedenle Bizans döneminin benzer sayfiye sarayları ve dönemin diğer sarayları hakkında araştırma yapılmıştır. Tüm bu çalışmalar ışığında Damatris Sarayı’nı çevresindeki yoğun yapılaşma ve Saray kalıntılarının yanından geçirilen Kızılay Caddesi’nin araç trafiğinden kaynaklanan tahribattan kurtarmak ve arkeolojik bir değer olarak yeniden kullanıma kazandırmak için neler yapılabileceği üzerinde öneriler sunulmuştur.

The aim of this study is to prepare survey, restitution and restoration projects with the remains of the Damatris Palace which is located in Eyüp Sultan Neighborhood, in Sancaktepe to make historical documentations for examination and to compare it with other similar Byzantine Palaces. The preparation of the survey is begun with drawings of the structure in its recent situation, and taking its measurements with total station. After then, the plan of the structure and its layer and facade drawings made on the computer media, analysis of the meterials are done and their documentation are completed. The restitution of the Damatris Palace is done according to the recent remainings and written sources, and after then the restoration projects for the protection of the structure are begun to be prepared. The Damatris Palace is mentioned as a summer palace or cottage palace in various sources. Because of that, searches about similar cottage palaces and other palaces of the Byzantine period are done. In the light of these studies the over building around the Damatris Palace and surviving the remainings from the destructure effects of the traffic of the Kızılay Street that passes near the remainings of the palace and what can be done for the reuse of the palace as an archaeological heritage are suggested.
