| tr_TR |
dc.description.abstract | In the thesis called "The place of the Neolithic Architecture of Central Anatolia in the Near Eastern Neolithic", the aim is to define the first settled communities in the Central Anatolia, and to analyze and compare the socio-cultural behaviors shaping the area's housing architecture and the settlement patterns. The similar settlement patterns in the agglomerative layout, discovered in the Çatalhöyük excavations dating 1960, are observed in settlements like Can Hasan IH, Suberde. Although physically situated within the borders of Central Anatolia, the excavations starting in 1989 in Aşıklı Höyük, another Neolithic settlement with different environmental conditions, similar settlement patterns are observed. In the light of these findings, it is accepted that the Central Anatolia preserves a cultural structure of its own. The parallel development of buildings and building materials, the transformation process of hunter-gatherer camp sites into village settlements dealing with agriculture and animal husbandry are experienced differently in Central Anatolia. When we look at the Near Eastern region, where the Neolithic period's architecture is known with more details and examples than the Central Anatolia, we can observe all the stages of architectural development. The transition process from round structures to rectangular structures in the time periods known as PPNA and PPNB, the use of different constructive materials developed in parallel with this process, is a result of the interaction between different communities living in the area. Briefly, the development of construction materials and the building types carry significantly different characteristics as we compare the Neolithic settlements in the Central Anatolia with the Near East. As we look at the socio-cultural elements of the settlements and the architectural patterns resulting from the reflection of these elements, we can conclude that these two areas have their own independent characteristic. | en_US |
