1990-2000 Yılları Arasında İstanbul'da Yapılan Küratörlü Sergiler

Abstract

1990-2000 Yıllan Arasında İstanbul'da Yapılan Küratörlü Sergiler" başlıklı tezimiz, en geniş anlamda, on yıl içinde İstanbul'da yapılan küratörlü sergilerin envanteri niteliğindedir. Küratötlük kavramım ve sanatçı-küratör ilişki sürecini Türkiye perspektifinden inceleme amacındadır. Çalışmanın, başlangıç noktasında yer alan zaman sınırlaması, Türkiye'de küratörlü sergilerin görülmeye başlandığı 1990'lı yıllardır. Çalışma 2000 yılı ile sonlanmaktadır. Bu süreç, sergilerin kapsamının ve temalarının değiştiği, yeni sanatçıların ortaya çıktığı ve küratörlük kavramının sanat ortamına girdiği yıllardır. Dolayısıyla, çalışma kendi içinde yol alırken yan başlıkları ve yan sorulan da beraberinde getirmiştir. Sergileri incelerken aynı zamanda Türkiye'deki sanat ortamım, küratörlük kavramım, küratör ve sanatçı kimliklerini de incelemek çalışma açısından çok önem kazanmıştır. Yöntem, envanter oluşturmada basit ve kavramsal bir yol izlemiştir. Belirlenmiş süreç içindeki sergiler küratörlere göre gruplandınlmıştır. Böyle bir envanter yöntemi, sergileri tek tek ve bir bütün olarak küratörüyle ilişkilendirmeyi ve bağlanımdan uzaklaştırmamayı amaçlamaktadır. Böyle bir yöntemin izlenmesi, doğal olarak, sadece on yıl içindeki sergilerin değil küratörleri de tanıma olanağı vermiştir. Türkiye perspektifinden baktığımız küratörlük kavramım on yıl içindeki sergiler bağlanımda niteliksel açıdan değerlendirmek, karşımıza çıkan yan sorularla, giderek niceliksel açıdan da bakmamıza neden olmuştur. Sergileri yapan kişiler kimler?, serginin kurulduğu tema nedir?, sanatçıların seçilmesi nasıl olmuştur?, hangi sanatçılarla sergiler yapılmıştır? ve sergi mekanlan nelerdir? sorulan bizi küratörlük nedir?, küratör kimdir? sorularına götürmüştür. Çalışma bu sorunun yanıtına en somut ve en genel anlamda ulaşmaya çalışmıştır. Çalışmada, küratörler ve sanatçılarla da söyleşiler yapılmış, çalışmanın kendi içinde sorduğu sorular onlara da yöneltilmiştir. Sergilerin iki yüzünü oluşturan sanatçıların ve küratörlerin bakış açılarım anlayabilmek araştırmanın en temel amaçlarından biridir.

The thesis called, "Exhibitions with Curators in Istanbul Between 1990-2000" largely deals with, acts the inventory of curatorial exhibitions in Istanbul in the last ten years. The purpose of this study is to observe the concept of curatorial studies and artist-curator relationship process, from the perspective of Turkey. Since, the exhibitions with curators in Turkey started in the early 1990's, the thesis highly focuses on the dates between the 1990' s and 2000. During this ten year period, research shows that the contents and themes of exhibitions have changed, new artists started to appear, and the concept of curatorship has been accepted to be a major element of art. This is why major titles brought along the sub-titles related with the overall point of discussion. The study has aimed to allow the reader to investigate the art environment in Turkey, to conceptualize the curatorial studies and to identify the curator and the artists identity. The method to include inventory has been practical and conceptual. Exhibitions in the identified process has been titled under "curators". This kind of inventory method enables to relate curators with exhibitions one by one. A natural outcome of this method not only provides the reader to study the exhibitions in the last ten years, but also it gives crucial feedback regarding the careers of curators. As an attempt to research the concept of curatorship in the exhibitions between the period of 1990-2000 qualitative research has also forced the researcher to evaluate the quantitative data as well. The questions of "who organized the exhibitions?", "what is the theme of the exhibitions?", "how are the artists chosen?", "who performed the exhibitions?", "where did the exhibitions take place?" gradually linked with the questions of "what is curatorship?" and "who are curators?". This study includes interwievs with curators and artists. The explanations of titles and sub-titles have been retained from the interwievs conducted. The major purpose of this study, thus, has been attained by understanding the different opinions of the artists and curators.
