The purpose of this study is, to identify and examine the imaginary space that is an abstract concept. The dream and space concepts have been studied from different point of views. With an approach that puts human to the center, imaginary space, which is the meeting point of dream and space, is a psychological and subjective concept. It is created by the activities of imagination and fantasy, in this process subconscious is more dominant than conscious. “Spaces to dream about”, has an existence which is not physical. The ones in the fairy tales, fantastic and science fiction spaces are included in this category. In the other hand, “spaces to dream in” do not only exist in mind, but also in physical world. The imaginary space is constructed upon the perceptual space. It can be different from person to person. Being imaginary and fantastic is a value. This value is determined by four factors in the “spaces to dream in”; story, mystery, surprise, insulation. The concept of imaginary space can be used in the architectural design education, in order to increase the creativeness, and imagination and fantasy, or to improve designing higher imaginary spaces. What must be done, is, to make subconscious be apparent by using some techniques like brainstorming etc., to support social memory, and to force imagination by trying text-to-space and space-to-text transformation. As a result, the imaginary space is the atmosphere above structure and created by imagination and fantasy. The expectancies, experiences, memories and emotions have influence on this process. The imaginary space is constructed on the perceptual one; the association and memory are the rich sources of it. Space is the one, which arouses dream and dream can change the space. Human creates space and dreams about it, and sometimes architect creates the space, which he dreams about. It can be said that, architect is the one, whose job is creating “the space to dream in” from “the space to dream about”
