19. Yüzyılın İkinci Yarısı Ve 20. Yüzyıl Başındaki Yangınlar Sonrası Galata’da Kentsel Dokunun Değişimi Ve Korunmuşluk Durumunun İncelenmesi

Abstract

Bu tez çalışması, İstanbul Tarihi Yarımadası’nın karşı kıyısında yer alan Galata’nın tarihi yangınlar sonrasında geçirdiği değişimi belgelemeyi amaçlamaktadır. Bu nedenle, 19. yüzyılın ikinci yarısına ve 20. yüzyılın başlarına ait haritalar bölgenin kentsel değişimini ortaya koyan belgeler olarak incelenmiştir. Nesnel veriler olan bu haritalar tarih sırasına göre üst üste çakıştırılarak yapılan karşılaştırmalarla, Galata bölgesinin dönemsel değişimlerinin ortaya koyulmasına çalışılmıştır. İncelemeler doğrultusunda, Galata çalışma alanı sınırları içinde değişimin en fazla görüldüğü yer örnek alan olarak seçilmiş ve güncel durum araştırılmıştır. Bu bağlamda, seçilen alandaki yapı adalarında ayrıntılı inceleme ve karşılaştırmalı analizler yapılarak, sokak dokusu, ada-parsel ilişkileri, kat yükseklikleri, yapı malzemeleri, yapım teknikleri, işlev ve korunmuşluk durumu belgelenmiştir. Bu çalışmalar sonucunda da, Galata bölgesinde seçilen örnek alanın korunmuşluk durumu değerlendirilmiştir.

This thesis study aims at authenticating the change that Galata, locating across the Historical Peninsula of Istanbul, has been through after historical fires. Therefore, the maps belonging to the second term of the 19th century and to the beginning of the 20th century, have been examined as the documents that are presenting the urban change of the region. The periodical changes of Galata region has been tried to be presented with the comparisons by superposing the maps that are objective datum in respect of date orders. Through the examination, within the boundaries of the work area in Galata, the place in which the change has been the most was chosen as the sample area and the actual situation was explored. Within this context, detailed examinations and comparative analysis were done on the construction urban blocks in the chosen area, and the street texture, the relations between urban block and plot, construction materials, number of storeys, building technics, the function and the status of conservation was documented.
