Özet
Historic Building Information Modelling (HBIM) has emerged as an important tool for documenting, analyzing, and managing historic buildings. HBIM involves the creation of digital models that represent the physical, geometric, and semantic information of historic buildings, enabling researchers, architects, and engineers to explore and study these structures in detail. Seljuk Architecture is a significant example of historic architecture in Türkiye, and its ornamental details have been of great interest to researchers and architects alike. This thesis focuses on the development of a scale transition system in HBIM for Seljuk Architecture examples in Konya and Kayseri, Türkiye. The aim is to provide a comprehensive approach to capture the ornamental details of the interiors of these structures and to represent them in different levels of detail in HBIM models. The research consists of two main parts: photogrammetry modelling and scale transition system development. In the first part, photogrammetry models of the Seljuk Architecture examples with brick patterns in their interior surfaces of domes and plain walls in Konya and Kayseri were created, and a filtering method was developed to extract the interior ornaments made out of bricks. The resulting models were used to understand the ornamental details' intricacies and develop a systematic approach to represent them in HBIM. In the second part, a scale transition system was developed using Rhinoceros/Grasshopper software to represent the different levels of detail in HBIM models. The system enables the representation of Seljuk Architecture examples in Konya and Kayseri at different scales, from a mass model to a detailed and textured model with structural information. The script developed in Rhinoceros/Grasshopper software was integrated with the BIM software Revit to create a seamless workflow. The photogrammetry models created in the first part of the research revealed the intricacies of the ornamental details of Seljuk Architecture examples in Konya and Kayseri, and the filtering method developed for interior ornaments made out of bricks proved effective. The scale transition system developed in the second part of the research provides a comprehensive framework for representing Seljuk Architecture examples in Konya and Kayseri in different levels of detail. The system enables the representation of Seljuk Architecture examples in Konya and Kayseri at different scales, from a mass model to a detailed and textured model with structural information. The script developed in Rhinoceros/Grasshopper software was successfully integrated with the BIM software Revit, creating a seamless workflow. The research results demonstrate the effectiveness of photogrammetry in capturing historic structures' ornamental details and the importance of developing a systematic approach to represent them in HBIM models. The scale transition system developed in this research provides a comprehensive framework for representing Seljuk Architecture examples in Konya and Kayseri in different levels of detail. The system can represent other historic structures with intricate ornamental details, providing a model for researchers and architects interested in studying historic architecture. This thesis contributes to the field of HBIM by providing a comprehensive approach to capturing and representing the ornamental details of historic structures and by developing a scale transition system that enables the representation of different levels of detail in HBIM models. The research has demonstrated the effectiveness of photogrammetry for capturing the ornamental details of historic structures and the importance of developing a systematic approach to represent them in HBIM models. The scale transition system developed in this research provides a framework for representing Seljuk Architecture examples.
