Yapının Kentsel Mekana Katılımı

Abstract

Yapının kentsel mekanı belirleyen, biçimlendiren, yönlendiren, tanımlayan özellikleri ile kentte üzerine etkin bir rol yüklenen, kentsel mekanların en önemli elemanı olduğu söylenebilir. Kentsel mekanların yaşam kazanması açısından yapının bir diğer önemi kamusal - özel yaşam ve mekanlar arasındaki ilişkinin, sınırların temel belirleyicilerinden birisi olmasından kaynaklanır. Bununla birlikte, kentsel mekanları canlı tutma ve yaşayan yerler haline getirme söz konusu olduğunda insan ve insan aktiviteleri de bir o kadar önemlidir. Kentsel mekanların ancak yaşamı barındırarak “yer” olma özelliğine sahip olabileceği ve insanları en çok çeken özelliğin fiziksel çevre olduğu kadar diğer insanların varlığı, aktiviteleri olduğu düşünüldüğünde yapının insana yönelik özelliklerle kentsel mekana katılabileceği daha açık biçimde ortaya çıkar. Bu bağlamda kavramsal, kuramsal ve deneyimsel olarak irdelenen konu; yapının kentsel mekana katılımında sahip olabileceği nitelikler ve bu niteliklere destek unsurların belirlenmesini amaçlamaktadır.

It can be stated that buildings are the most important elements in the urban context, and they play an active role in the city with their characteristics that determine, shape, orient, and describe urban spaces. Buildings have another important role in urban space, they are one of the basic elements determining boundries between public and private spaces and life. Furthermore, people and their activities are as important in giving urban places a lively atmosphere and keeping them alive. If urban places can be defined as “places” only when they shelter life, and if their caharacteristic that draws people the most (as much as their physical space) is the existence and activities of other people, it is obvious that buildings should be included in the urban context with their features which are aimed for people. In this concext, this study intends to consider the contribution of buildings to the urban spaces and to get solid data from these results through focusing on urban spaces’ importance as places where public life starts and develops.
