This study, which is titled with "The Investigation of Two Hand-written Musical Treatises", is prepared as the master thesis on the department of Turkish music for the Institute of Social Sciences at Istanbul Technical University. In this study two hand-written treatises were investigated, which are related with Turkish music theory; one of them is in the Meteorological Station of Kandilli at Bosporus University and the other one is in the library of Erzurum Atatürk University. The basic frame of the work constitutes the transcription of the texts' Arabic alphabet to Latin alphabet and the translation to current Turkish language. The aim of this study principally is the appraisement of time periods of the treatises, because of the lacking of information about the authors and the periods that they were written. In this appraisement main methods that are used, textual comparisons and the analyses of watermarks (filigree) according to the centuries. In that context, in the comparisons of textual concepts, firstly it is determined that each two treatises are suited with the 15th century writings of music theory. Although the concepts are fitted with 15th century, upon we examine the physical peculiarities of these treatises, it is designated that watermarks' shape of each was used in 18th century hand-written works. Consequently, it is deduced the consequences that these treatises were probably written in the same century, that is 18th century. The contexts of chapters that include five main parts are like that: In introduction; the importance of Turkish music treatises, briefly history of studied treatises in here, recent studies and their methods are mentioned. In the first chapter; the presentations, names, authors, written periods, editions, concepts and mentioned peoples of these treatises are given by the way of results' from investigations. The second chapter is formed with transcription of treatises. In the third chapter; the translation of treatises are done to current language in order to make the text easier for readers.
