dc.description.abstract In the last section, some programs and explanations are given about invoice automation related with distributed systems. İzmir Antalya Ankara Figure 2. A typical distributed database system. XX A distributed database is, in brief, an integrated database which is built on top of a computer network rather than on a single computer. The data which constitute the database are stored at the different sites of the computer network and are accessed from programs running on the different sites. For building and developing a distributed database, it is possible to face completely new problems. But researches have been continued to solve these problems and distributed database technology has been developed quickly in the recent years. A distributed data and transaction management system (DDTMS) is responsible for managing all data and the operations on the data in a distributed computing environment. A DDTMS is a collection of client-server modules which provides management of the following (Figure 1): Distributed Data and Transaction Management System (DDTMS) Distributed File Management Distributed Database Management Distributed Transaction Management Location Readand File Transparency Update Administration Concurrency Control for Synchronization Location Indepence Schema Integration Distributed Query Processing Commit Processing for Failures Administration of Databases Figure 1. A functional view of distributed data and transaction management. xvu In the last section, some programs and explanations are given about invoice automation related with distributed systems. İzmir Antalya Ankara Figure 2. A typical distributed database system. XX are stored in all stations and for exchanging data, PC's connect to each other on modem line. As soon as the plane touching down to the ground, services are given and services are pointed on GHCN. After that, according to the receiving data, invoices are prepared. There are Ground Handling Charge Notes (GHCN) which represent the services and prices for flights. The real prices are being prepared in the invoices. There are two kinds of invoices: Cash and Credit Invoices. While some works are being done at local places, some works are not being done at local places. Services are given at the station and every station is responsible for only its own service and all stations prepare their GHCN. Cash invoices are formed at stations, credit invoices are formed in the General Management. This structure is very available for building and developing a distributed database system. Application programs are developed by Progress RDBMS. Progress is a new product in Database Management Systems World. Simply stated, Progress allows you to develop complete, portable applications in a fraction of the time it takes with languages like Cobol or C. Progress also built into the language is portability across platforms, databases and graphical environments. Progress helps you to deliver powerful, flexible, client/server applications. Progress runtime module and other components are loaded at the General Management. Local places have only Progress Run-time module, The Client/Server Architecture and Progress database connection properties were used. It was mentioned that some information about Celebi and distributed systems in the first section. In the second section, there are some information about RDBMS, normalization. In the third section, there are some information about networks, WAN, ISO/OSI reference model, Internet layers, TCP/IP protocol and IP address. In the fourth section, distributed databases, why data is distributed, distributed data processing, comparing with centered and distributed databases, distributed database management systems, 12 rules of distributed databases, the problems of distributed systems, a reference architecture for distributed databases, data fragmentation types, distirbuted database design, distributed database access primitives, advantages and disadvantages of distributed databases are examined. In the fifth section, some information about programming with Progress, widgets, methods, database access, database triggers, transactions, locks, windows, data security, Progress configurations, Client/Server configurations, network configurations, shared-memory configurations are given. XIX In the last section, some programs and explanations are given about invoice automation related with distributed systems. İzmir Antalya Ankara Figure 2.
