Talep Analizi: Türkiye Yonga Levha Ve Mdf Sektöründe Bir Uygulama

Abstract

Çalışma kapsamında orta yoğunlukta lif levha ve yonga levha ürünlerinin yıllık üretimi ile dış ticaret seviyeleri de dikkate alınarak elde edilen talep düzeyinin, kişi başına düşen milli gelirden ve fiyat seviyesinden ne kadar etkilendikleri analiz edilmiştir. Çalışmada uzun dönemde ve kısa dönemde ayrı modeller kurularak elastikiyetlerin farklılıklar gösterdiği görülmüştür. Buna göre kısa vadede söz konusu ürünlerin talep düzeylerinin fiyat değişimlerine tepki vermediği, uzun dönemde ise klasik iktisat teorisinin de önereceği gibi artan fiyatlarla talebin azaldığı görülmektedir. Bununla birlikte, orta yoğunlukta lif levha ve yonga levha ürünlerinin talep düzeylerinde gerçekleşen kısa dönemli talep şoklarının etkisinin uzun sürmediği, talebin uzun dönemdeki eğilimine hızla adapte olduğu görülmüştür. Çalışmada araştırılmak istenen, orta yoğunlukta lif levha ve yonga levha gibi ağaç bazlı panel ürünlerinin yükselen hammadde fiyatlarına rağmen söz konusu periyotta Türkiye ekonomisinin büyümesi ile ne kadar iç içe olduğunu göstermektir. Bunun için ekonometrik model kullanılmış ve E-Views paket programı kullanılmıştır. Kullanılan bütün veri setleri yıllık olup 1994-2012 yılları arasını kapsamaktadır.

In this framework, the demand level of medium density fiberboard and particle board products has been analyzed by considering annually production level, annually import and export level. The dependent variable, demand, is regressed on two explanatory independent variables which are gross domestic product per capita and relative price index of corresponding products. In the work, there has been two models established that analyzes the elasticities in the long term and in the short term by considering the existence of cointegration among the variables. It has been observed that there are many differences of behavior of price and revenue on demand both in the long run and in the short run. As a result of this, it has been observed that the demand level of these products do not change significantly with respect to price changes in the short term but it does reversely in the long term which is actually asserted in the classical demand theory. Furthermore, it has been observed that, the short run shocks on the demand level of medium density fiberboard and particle board does not make a long affect. This kind of short run huge increase or decrease can adapt to long term trend very quickly. In this thesis, it has been aimed to clarify the effect of medium density fiberboard and particle board demand on the economic development in spite of high cost of raw material in this sector. For that reason, a significant econometric model has been developed and E-Views program is involved in this work. All of the data sets are used as annually and cover the term between 1994 and 2012.
