İstanbul’da Meydana Gelmiş Büyük Depremler Ve İstanbul’un Geoteknik Açıdan İncelenmesi

Abstract

Bu çalışmada, İstanbul’da karşılaşılan zemin formasyonlarında ortaya çıkabilecek geoteknik sorunlar ile ilgili genel bilgi verilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Çalışmada N. Ambraseys’in eserlerinden yararlanılarak İstanbul ve çevresinde yirmi yüzyıllık bir geçmişte meydana gelmiş depremlerin tarihsel bir sıralaması ortaya konmuştur. İstanbul Büyükşehir Belediyesi’nin çalışmaları ile ortaya çıkarılmış İstanbul jeoloji haritası üzerinde İstanbul ve çevresinde karşılaşılan zemin formasyonları açıklanmaya çalışılmış, formasyonların karşılaşıldığı yerlerde alınan fotoğraflar ile çalışma desteklenmiştir. İstanbul’un genel jeolojisi ve tektoniği hakkında bilgi verilmiş, İstanbul’da görülen zemin formasyonlarının geoteknik sorunları hakkında detaylı olmayan açıklamalar yapılmıştır. İstanbul’da yapılmış birkaç projenin geoteknik incelemeleri, bu incelemelerde yapılmış deneyler ve deneylerin sonuçları çalışmaya eklenmiştir. Kaynakların verdiği sınırlı bilgilere dayanarak İstanbul’da meydana gelmiş depremlerde hasar görmüş binalar ve bulundukları yerlerin genelde Eski İstanbul olduğu görülmektedir. Eski İstanbul’da hakim zeminin heyelan açısından sorunlu bir zemin olduğu bilinmektedir, fakat mevcut kaynakların sadece İstanbul’un bu bölümündeki deprem hasarları bilgilerini detaylı olarak verdikleri gözönünde bulundurulmalıdır. İstanbul’da deprem hasarlarının azaltılabilmesi için binalar, diğer mühendislik yapıları ve sistemlerinin yer seçimi ve depreme dayanıklı olarak projelendirilmelerine yönelik bölgesel zemin koşulları ve bu zeminlerin depremler sırasındaki olası davranışlarını ortaya çıkaracak bilgi ve parametreleri sağlayan haritaların hazırlanmasının önemi sonuç bölümünde vurgulanmıştır.

This study aims at providing general information about geotechnical problems that might take place in the ground formations of Istanbul. The study provides a chronological list of the eathquakes that have happened in the past two-thousand years by referencing N. Ambraseys’ works. Different types of soil types, found in Istanbul and surroundings, were tried to be explained on the Istanbul geological map, developed by the Municipality of Istanbul. This part of the study has been supported with the photographs taken from the locations where soil types were encountered. Information related to the general geology and tectonic of Istanbul has been given and undetailed explanations about the geotechnical problems of the soil types in Istanbul have been made. Geotechnical investigations of a couple of projects done in Istanbul, the tests done during these projects and their results have been added to the study. According to the limited information gathered from the references, it is seen that the buildings damaged by the earthquakes are generally located in “Old Istanbul”. It is to the common knowledge that the dominant soil type in “Old Istanbul” is a troubled one due to landslides, however, it has to be taken into account that existing references give enough information about earthquake damages only in this part of Istanbul. The necessity of developing maps of Istanbul that will provide imformation and parameters about the soil conditions and how they behave during earthquakes in order to minimize the earthquake damages on any type of building, has been emphasized in the conclusion part of the study.
