Distopik Bilim-kurgu Filmlerindeki Mekan Çözümlemeleri (1980-2000)

Abstract

Çalışmanın konusu, teknolojik değişimin, mimarlık ile ilgili gelecek senaryolarını nasıl etkilediğini distopik bilim-kurgu filmleri aracılığıyla ortaya koymaya çalışmaktır. Değişen bilim ve teknoloji geleceğin dünyasının günümüzden farklı olacağının işaretidir. İnsanlık hep “Geleceğin dünyası acaba nasıl olacak?” sorusuna yanıt aramıştır. Bu soruya genellikle bilim-kurgu filmlerinde kötümser cevap verilmiş, insanlar bugünün teknolojik ilerlemesi karşısında endişelenmiş, endişelerini anlatan, geleceğin dünyasıyla ilgili olumsuz gelecek senaryoları kuran distopyalar tasarlamışlardır. Distopyalar, bugünün toplumsal, ideolojik, etik, bilimsel çıkmazlarının başka dünyalar yaratılarak aktarılmasıyla ortaya çıkmaktadır. İnsanlık çoğu zaman geleneksel, alışılmış olanın rahatlığını yeni olana tercih etmiştir. Yeni olanın bilinmezliğine, tekinsizliğine, şaşırtıcılığına karşı hep mesafeli olmuşlardır. Günümüzde karamsar gelecek senaryolarına sık rastlamamızın sebebi de yeni olana karşı duyulan korku ve endişedir. Yeni olanı üretebilmek için bugünün sorunlarını görmek, anlamak ve çözmek gerekmektedir. Çalışmanın amacı, bu bağlamda geleceğe ait öngörüleri okumak, hangi mimari problemleri içerdiklerini anlamak, açmazlarını ortaya koymaktır. Buradan yola çıkarak teknolojik değişim sürecinin hem sinemaya hem de mimarlığa etkisi araştırılmıştır.

The subject of this study is to try to expose how technological changes effect futuristic scenarios related with architecture by means of dystopic films. Developing science and technology are signals which show that the world of future will be different from that of today. Humanity has always searched answers for the question “How will be the world of future?”. Usually, pessimistic answers were given to this question in science-fictions films, people became anxious about today’s technological improvements and they designed distopias that produce negative future scnerios about the world of future and that tell their anxiety. Distopias are formed with the transfer of today’s social, ideological, ethical, and scientific futiles by creating different worlds. Most of the time, humanity has preferred the comfort of the one that is traditional and ordinary to the one that is new. They have always behaved coldly to the unknown and surprising structure of the new one. The reason of encountering with pessimistic future scnerios so frequently is the fear and anxiety aganist new one. It is necessary to see the see understand and solve today’s problems to be able to produce the new one. The aim of the study is to read the foresights about future, to understand which architectural problems they cover and to put through their dilemmas. The effect of technological improvement process onto both cinema and architecture is examined from this point.
