Besiktaş Rum Okulu Restorasyon Projesi

Abstract

Bu çalışmada, İstanbul Beşiktaş’ ta 291 ada, 7 parselde bulunan Beşiktaş Rum Okulu için restorasyon projesi hazırlanmıştır. Ancak bunun için öncelikle Rumların İstanbul’ da yaşadıkları semtler ve bu semtlerde açmış oldukları en eski ve en büyük okullar incelenmiştir. Ayrıca yaşanan siyasi olaylara bağlı olarak nüfusun azalması ve okulların kapanması da araştırma konusu olmuştur. Okulun bulunduğu Beşiktaş semtinin tarihsel gelişimi, semtte yaşayan azınlıklar ve okulları da incelenmiştir. Beşiktaş Rum Okulu’ nun restorasyon projesi hazırlanırken öncelikle günümüzdeki durumunu belgelemek amacıyla rölöve çalışması yapılmış, malzeme ve bozulma analizleri de bu rölöve çalışması üstünde hazırlanmıştır. Okulun özgün mimarisini belgelendirmek amacıyla restitüsyon projesi hazırlanmıştır. Restitüsyon projesi için yapılan araştırmalarda okulun eğitim faaliyetine başlamadan önce yapıların ikiz ev olduğu ortaya çıkmıştır, bu sebeple eş dönem ikiz evleri de araştırma konusuna dahil olmuştur. 1975 tarihten bugüne kadar kullanılmayan yapının yeniden kullanılması için öncelikle müdahale analizi yapılmış ve hazırlanan restorasyon projesinde yapıya yeni bir işlev verilmiştir. Restorasyon projesinde Beşiktaş Rum Okulu’ nun, hem Beşiktaş’ ın merkezinde hem de semtte bulunan üniversitelerin merkezinde olmasından dolayı, hem de azınlık okulları ile bilgilerin günümüzde çok dağınık olmasında dolayı “Azınlık Okulları Araştırma Merkezi” olarak kullanılması önerilmiştir.
