İdeal Kadraj: Modern Villanın Fotoğrafik Temsili

Abstract

Bu tez çalışmasında, 1920lerde ve 30larda inşa edilen Modern villalara dair bir problem tanımlanmış ve bu problemin, yapıların kitlesel olarak üretilip yayılan fotoğrafları aracılığıyla geçirdiği dönüşüm çözümlenmeye çalışılmıştır. Savaşlar arası döneme ait Modern villa fotoğrafları külliyatı, mimari ve fotoğrafik özellikler taşıyan, tanımlı bir olgu olarak ele alınmış ve gerek bu yapı tipinin gerekse diğer Modern mimarlık ürünlerinin algılanması ve yorumlanmasında etkin olduğu saptanmıştır. Bu olgunun mimari ve fotoğrafik özellikleri ayrı başlıklar altında incelenmiş ve ilişkilendirilmiştir. Modern villaya dair tanımlanan problemin dönüşümünü araştırmak için, 1923-1935 yılları arasında üç önemli Fransız dergisinde yayınlanan Modern villa fotoğraflarından bir İmge Seti oluşturulmuş ve bu örnek fotoğraflar üzerinde niceliksek ve niteliksel yöntemler aracılığıyla bir çözümleme çalışması yapılmıştır. Tezin merkezinde konumlanan bu çözümleme çalışmasının sonuçları, destekleyici söylemler, görsel gösterimler ve niceliksel veriler yoluyla açıklanmıştır.

A specific problem about the Modern villas built during 1920s and 30s is defined in this study and the transformation of this problem which took place through the mass production and dissemination of the photographs of these buildings is analyzed. The photographic corpus of Modern villa photographs of this period is evaluated as an identifiable phenomenon with architectural and photographic characteristics and it is observed that this phenomenon was a dominant factor in the interpretation of this building type and other forms of Modern architecture as well. Both architectural and photographic aspects of this phenomenon are discussed separately and linked to each other. In order to investigate the transformation of the problem defined for the Modern villa, an Image Set is formed out of villa photographs published in three significant French periodicals between 1923-35, and these case study images are analyzed by a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods. The results of the analysis that forms the core of the thesis study is rendered explicit through the discussion of relevant discourse, visual presentations and quantitative data.
