Zaman tanım alanında çözüme göre 20 katlı yüksek bina her iki doğrultuda can güvenliği performans düzeyini sağlamaktadır.
Nowadays number of high-rise buildings are increasing rapidly. A lot of high-rise buildings are being erected in metropolis of our country. DBYBHY 2007(Current Turkish Seismic Code) includes design rules only for low and mid-rise buildings. There are not any official regulations for high rise building design in our country. According to DBYBHY 2007, we only benefit from elastic capacity of system members by means of resistance to external loads. As principal of design, neither strength of material is reduced nor effective mass is increased. Besides, elastic earthquake forces are reduced by a parameter that is determined from building system model in order to obtain economical cross sections in design. For this reason, we do not have any general understanding about building earthquake performance level. In order to get the performance level of the building, more sophisticated analysis techniques must be applied. Therefore we need analysis techniques which take into consideration nonlinearity of building material and geometrical properties. Developing computer technology and experimental procedures enable us to apply nonlinear solution techniques which take into account the loss of rigidity and strength during an earthquake. Especially in high rise buildings, we need more specific analysis techniques because of second order and higher mode effects. We can determine building performance level under earthquake forces by using dynamic analysis methods. In order to determine the exact performance level, time history analysis procedure is so far the best analysis method for high-rise buildings. Three acceleration-time records were used in solutions included in this thesis. These are Düzce (1999), Kobe-Japan (1995) and Imperial Valley06 (1979) earthquake records. Three records which are scaled by design acceleration spectrum were used in time history integration analysis. Performance levels were determined according to where the most critical damage occurred in records. Besides, when the higher mode effects are taken into account, damping ratios are obtained from the building rigidity and mass values. At the first and second modes, mass participation factor is effective so damping ratio depends on the mass value. At the increasing modes, damping ratio depend on the loss rigidity value. In this thesis, we determined performance level of a twenty story building by using direct integration time history analysis procedure. Engineers developed static pushover procedures since dynamic analysis is time consuming. In this method, we obtained shear forces against increasing displacements then we determined target displacement and continued the pushing procedure until the target displacement value was reached. Generally, static pushover procedure is convenient in low and moderate rise buildings because of practicality in application. In order to determine the high-rise building performance, engineers studied pushover analysis which also considers higher mode effects. High-rise building performance is investigated by using displacement control static pushover analysis method since the solution procedure is more practical. Higher mode effects were combined using proper combination rule. After doing this, we made comparison between multi-mode static pushover and time history direct integration solutions. To sum up, this Master of Science thesis consist of five chapters • The first chapter includes general information and background about the static and dynamic analysis methods. Also purpose of master of science thesis is explained in this chapter. • In second chapter, principles of nonlinear analysis methods are mentioned. Also modelling and assumption which used in analysis method are mentioned. Concrete, rebar stress-strain diagram and elastic, inelastic solution methods are referred to in this chapter. • The third chapter consists of solution procedures about the dynamic and static analysis methods. Selection of time histories, scaling time histories and obtaining target displacements is studied in this chapter. All records are of the same fault type. Records are chosen from strike-slip fault type. Also, target displacement was determined from two methods. First of them is equal displacement rule and second are dynamic analysis results. • In fourth chapter, building information, obtaining cracked rigidity and plastic hinges are mentioned. Earthquake performance of a twenty story high-rise building is determined by using time history direct integration and multi-mode static pushover methods. • In the last chapter, the results are compared with each other and discussed. Performance level is obtained from multi-modal static pushover and time history direct integration analysis result in this chapter. Also, base shear forces versus maximum displacement of analysis methods are compared with each other. Story displacements, story drifts and plastic hinge rotations are compared between first mode static pushover, multi-modal static pushover and Kobe-Japan acceleration record. According to the results of time history analysis, twenty story high rise building satisfies life safety performance level in both earthquake directions. According to results of multi-modal static pushover analysis, the number of damaged beam and column members are less those of than time history analysis results. As a result of comparison, there are small differences between multi-modal static pushover and time history analysis regarding story displacements and story drifts values. Base shear is obtained from first mode modal static pushover procedure seventy percent of time history analysis base shear force result. Besides, results of plastic rotations from both analyses at the beams are compared. There are irregular distribution patterns at the plastic hinge rotations in analysis procedures. At the end of the analysis procedures, results of the time history analysis seem to be more effective than the results obtained from multi-modal static pushover analysis procedure. To obtain the correct damage level at the core wall, using better core wall model may more appropriate instead of modelling with frame elements. Although core wall modelling with finite elements cause a time consuming, it makes possible to obtain correct results. Selection of earthquake acceleration records affects the analysis results directly. Especially in high-rise building analyses, number of records and selection of records affect the results directly. Therefore in order to determine correct performance level, using more earthquake records is more convenient at the time history analysis instead of using three records. Besides, rigid diagram assumption may also be investigated in high-rise buildings. Dynamics characteristic of building may be different when the rigid diagram assumption is not used depending on the openings in floors. Therefore, rigid diagram assumption may be investigated comprehensively.
