Cihangir’in Kentsel Sızma Dinamiklerinin İrdelenmesi

Abstract

Bu çalışmanın amacı kentsel sızma (gentrification) kavramını anlamak, dünyadaki örneklerini değerlendirmek ve de Cihangir’in hangi noktalarda kentsel sızma olgusunu deneyimlediğini ortaya koymaktır. Bu deneyimlerde ortaya çıkan dinamikleri irdelemek ve de karşılaştırmalarla, yorumlarla açıklamaktır. Cihangir’de yapılan alan çalışması, kentsel sızma ile ilgili açıklamalar, teoriler, örnekler birlikte düşünülürse, Cihangir’de ekonomik değişimlerin belirlediği sosyokültürel ve sosyoekonomik verileri de olan, kentsel sızma (gentrification) olarak tanımlanabilecek değişim, dönüşüm ve gelişmelerin yaşanmaya başladığı ve süreç içerisinde de devam ettiği görülmektedir. Bu çalışmada ayrıca “kentsel sızma” olarak tanımlayabileceğimiz değişimlerin “kentlerin sosyal coğrafyasını, özgün mimari çevresini silici mi?” ya da, bunun tersi olarak, “kentlerin gelişmesi, yenilenmesi, rönesansı mı?” olduğu da irdelenmektedir.The aim of this study is to examine the meaning of gentrification, explaining and evaluating the examples of gentrified urban areas in the world cities, and examining the gentrification experiences of Cihangir region in İstanbul. It is also important to compare the examples and dynamics of the worldwide gentrification experiences with the experiences of Cihangir region. If we think altogether the case study, explanations about the gentrification, gentrification theories, gentrified urban areas, we’ll see that Cihangir is experiencing the transformation, revolution, renovation of the land and the superstructure, that we can call “gentrification”. The process of gentrification is determined by the effects of economic transformations, which is also effected by the socioeconomic and sociocultural transformations, in Cihangir. In this study, it is also examined to determine that, the processes of urban land development that we can say “gentrification”, “is it really erasing the social geography of urban land, and unique architectural pattern?” or “is it the upgrading, renaissance of the urban land?”.
