Özet
Sıvı kristal 6-(4-siyanobifenil-4’-oksi) hegzil akrilat (LC6) ve siklohegzen oksit (CHO) monomerlerinin blok kopolimerleri, atom transfer radikal polimerizasyonu (ATRP) ve ışıkla uyarılmiş katyonik polimerizasyon yöntemleri kullanılarak sentezlenmiştir. Bu amaçla yapısında fotoaktif benzoin ve ATRP’de aktif olarak rol alacak Brom gruplarını içeren 2-metoksi-3-oxo-2,3-difenilpropil 2-bromopropanoat (PI-Br) başlatıcısı kullanılmıştır. İlk aşamada LC6 monomeri PI-Br başlatıcısı ve CuBr/N,N,N’,N’’,N’’-pentametildietilentriamin (PMDETA) katalizör sistemi varliğinda 115oC’de ATRP yöntemine gore polimerleştirilmiştir. Sonuç olarak zincir ucunda fotoaktif benzoin grubu içeren poli[6-(4-Siyanobifenil-4’-oxi) hegzil akrilat] (PLC6) polimerleri elde edilmiştir. İkinci aşamada fotoaktif PLC6 polimerleri CHO’nun ışıkla uyarılmış katyonik polimerizasyonunda, onyum tuzları varlığında radikal kaynağı olarak kullanılmış ve oluşan radikaller katyona yükseltgenerek polimerleşmeyi başlatmıştır. Elde edilen sıvı kristal-amorf blok kopolimerler spektroskopik yöntemlerle karakterize edilmiştir.
The synthesis of block copolymers, involving liquid-crystalline 6-(4-Cyanobiphenyl-4’-oxy)hexyl acrylate (LC6) and cyclohexene oxide (CHO) monomer by combination of copper-based Atom Transfer Radical Polymerization (ATRP) and Promoted Cationic Polymerization (PCP), was studied. First, photoactive benzoin group and Bromine end group containing 2-methoxy-3-oxo-2,3-diphenylpropyl 2-bromopropanoate (PI-Br), was used as an initiator for ATRP of LC6 in diphenyl ether in conjunction with CuBr/ N,N,N’,N’’,N’’-pentamethyldiethylenetriamine (PMDETA) as a catalyst system at 115oC. The obtained photoactive functional liquid crystalline polymer, poly[6-(4-cyanobiphenyl-4’-oxy)hexyl acrylate] (PLC6), was used as an initiator in PCP of CHO in the presence of onium salt. Homopoly(CHO) was removed by selective solvent extraction to determine block yield and the composition of block copolymers. The formation of block copolymers were supported by analysis of GPC, 1H NMR and DSC which were confirmed the formulation of liquid crstalline-amorphous block copolymers.
