Büyükdere Aya Paraskevi Kilisesi Koruma Projesi

Abstract

Tez kapsamında, İstanbul ili, Sarıyer ilçesi, Büyükdere semti, 592 ada 8 parselde konumlanan Büyükdere Aya Paraskevi Kilisesi incelenmiştir. Çalışma yedi ana bölümden oluşmaktadır. Giriş bölümünde, tezin amacı, kapsamı ve çeşitli aşamalarda kullanılan çalışma yöntemleri anlatılmıştır. Çalışmanın ikinci bölümünde, Büyükdere semtinin, konumu ve tarihi gelişimi, sosyo-kültürel ve ekonomik yapısı ile anıtsal ve sivil mimarlık örnekleri incelenmiştir. Çalışmanın üçüncü bölümünde Büyükdere Aya Paraskevi Kilisesi nin mevcut durumuna ilişkin ayrıntılı tanımı yapılmıştır. Kilisenin konumu, tarihçesi, kitabeleri anlatılmıştır. Kilisenin mimari özellikleri; plan özellikleri, cephe özellikleri, malzeme, yapım tekniği ve strüktür özellikleri yapıda tespit edilen bozulmalar ve nedenleri incelenmiştir. Çalışmanın dördüncü bölümünde, Osmanlı dönemindeki Rumlara ve İstanbul daki Rum Ortodoks kiliselerine, Rum Ortodoks kiliselerinin mimari özelliklerine değinilmiştir. Kiliselerin mekânsal düzenleri, cephe düzenleri, malzeme, yapım tekniği ve strüktür özellikleri, litürjik öğeleri ve ek yapıları incelenmiştir. Beşinci bölümde yapının restitüsyonuna ait çalışmalara yer verilmiştir. Restitüsyon başlığı altında yapının farklı dönemlerine tarihlenen dönem ekleri anlatılıp, kronolojik çalışmaya değinilmiştir. Daha sonra restitüsyon kararlarına ışık tutan bilgi ve belgeler, yapı ile çağdaş benzer örnekler incelenmiştir. Restitüsyon sorunları başlığı altında mekânsal sorunlar, yapı elemanı ölçeğindeki sorunlar ve malzemelere ilişkin sorunlar olarak üç alt başlıkta incelenmiştir. Altıncı bölümde yapı ile ilgili restorasyon projesine yer verilmiş, proje ile birlikte yapının onarımına ilişkin müdahaleler anlatılmıştır. Restorasyon kararları doğrultusunda yapının günümüzde mevcut bir cemaatinin olması dolayısıyla yapının özgün işlevinin korunması önerilmiştir. Sonuç bölümünde kilisenin çevre için anlamı ve önemi belirtilmiş; Büyükdere Aya Paraskevi Kilisesi nin bulunduğu çevre ve yakın ilişkili yapılar ile bir bütün olarak korunması gerektiğine değinilerek, anıtın yaşayan çevre ile bütünleşmesi için önerilen uygulamalar açıklanmıştır.

Büyükdere Saint Paraskevi Church, which is located in 592 block, 8 parcel Büyükdere district of Sarıyer, Istanbul, is studied in this research. The introduction summarizes the purpose and the scope of the thesis and the methodology used in the various stages of the research. In the second section, the location and the historical development, socio-cultural and economic structure, monumental and civil architectural samples of Büyükdere district are analyzed. In the third section of the study, the current condition of the church is studied in detail. The location and features of the neighborhood, the history of the church are examined. The architectural features of the church are studied. Plan, façade, materials and construction and structural features, the damages and their reasons are examined. In the fourth section, Eastern Orthodox community within the Ottoman Empire, Eastern Orthodox churches in Istanbul and the architectural features of these churches are explained. The fifth section focuses on the studies about the restitution process. The chronological study is developed by explaining the different periods of the structure. The information and documents that shed light on the restitution decisions are investigated and similar examples are analyzed. The restitution problems section has three subtitles including the spatial problems, construction and structural problems and material problems. The restoration proposal is presented in Section 6. In addition to the restoration project that suggests to preserve the original function, the proposals related to the structural interventions are discussed. In the conclusion section, the significance of the church for the neighbourhood is discussed and the necessity to preserve the the church in integrity with its neighborhood and related structures is emphasized.
