| tr_TR |
dc.description.abstract | Anatolia, not only placing between the Eastern and the Greek Cultures but also reflecting their traces, has been credited with originating a number of innovations in architecture during the 6th century B.C. This study focuses on the raised tomb monuments, which emerged as a new type in this multi-cultural era. Before 6th century B.C., there were no monumental tombs; however, two buildings, erected in this century, were the indicators of a new tradition. These were Taş Kule near Phokaia and Pyramid Tomb at Sardis. Beside related mostly with Persians, these two monuments could not be related with an exact date or owner due to their unornamented and unusual forms. The fundamental reason for this possible relation is that these two tombs had formal similarities with the tomb of the Persian King, Cyrus II, who destroyed the Lydian Empire and then conquered Anatolia. Yet, the contributions of different cultures for the emergence of these three raised tombs, familiar to neither Anatolia, nor Persia, are objects of a variety of different interpretations. The aim of this study is debating on the emergence of this new architectural form and dwelling on the evolution till the 3rd century B.C. | en_US |
