In this study, the mechanical properties, performance based mixture designs and performance classes of steel fiber-reinforced concrete (SFRC) were determined. In the concretes having different matrise strength, the hooked steel fibers having different tensile strength and aspect ratio (L/d) were used in different volumetric ratios as single and hybrid. Compressive strength, elasticity module, splitting tensile and four-point beam bending experiments were applyed to investigate the mechanical and performance properties of steel fiber-reinforced concrete. The performance based design and performance categories of steel fiber-reinforced concretes were determined according to the method of Germany Concrete Society. According to the experiment results, it was observed that the steel fibers having different tensile strength and aspect ratio didn’t affect the compresive strength and elasticity module of concretes with different matrise strength. Steel fibers improved the compressive toughness of concrete. It was investigated that there was a remarkable increase in splitting tensile and flexural strength values. Moreover, there was a significant increase in toughness properties. Considering the increase in mixture cost by adding steel fibers, the optimization of steel fiber-reinforced concretes were performed by using computer optimisation techniques according to the parameters of some mechnical properties and performance. At the end of multi-purpose optimisation performing in terms of minimum cost and maximum performance, optimum mixture solutions were investigated. The regression models predicting the mechnical and performance parameters of steel fiber-reinforced concretes according to the water-cement ratio, fiber aspect ratio and volumetric ratio were developed.
