The Use Of Turkish Music Elements Together With Heavy Metal Music: The Case Of Pentagram

Abstract

The aim of this study is to analyze the use of Turkish music and heavy metal music elements in music of Pentagram. This analysis is carried out under four main models; use of the elements as themselves, use of the elements together, emulation of the elements and blending of the elements. As a result of this analysis, these two different genres' elements are found working harmoniously together in the works of the band and they form a new fusion sub-genre. These models in this analysis can be used not only for this specific genre but also in the analysis of other fusion sub-genres in music.

Bu çalışmanın amacı Pentagram grubu müziği özelinde Türk müziği ve heavy metal müziği ögelerinin beraber kullanımını analiz etmektir. Bu analiz dört ana model altında yapılmıştır; ögelerin kendi başlarına kullanımı, ögelerin beraber kullanımı, ögelerin öykünümü ve ögelerin kaynaşımı. Bu analiz sonucunda bu iki birbirine uzak türün birbiriyle uyum içinde yeni bir karma alt-tür oluşturduğu grubun eserlerinde görülmüştür. Kullanılan bu modeller ve alt başlıkları sadece bu müzik türü üzerinde değil, müzikteki diğer karma alt-türlerin analizinde yol gösterici olarak kullanılabilirler.
