A Subjective Listening Test On The Preference Of Two Different Stereo Microphone Arrays On Headphones And Speakers Listening Setups

Abstract

The study is based on the subjective listening tests conducted on 50 people, from three different categories of relation to sound recording: strong, medium and weak. In the listening tests, people's subjective preferences over the two selected stereo microphone configurations were tested on both headphone and loudspeaker listening situations. For audio examples, three different recordings that were done in three different rooms with varying amount of extra-musical noise and acoustical treatment; and with different types of sound source (music ensemble). Microphone configurations' placement and microphones' polar pattern characteristics are included in the discussion of results.

Çalışma ses kaydı ile ilgililik derecesi üç farklı kategoride (uzak - orta - zayıf) olan 50 adet denek üzerinde yapılan öznel dinleme testlerinin sonuçları üzerine uygulanmıştır. Dinleme testlerinde, ilgili kişilerin beğenileri hoparlör ve kulaklık ile dinleme yaptırılarak ölçülmüştür. Dinletilen kayıtlar üç farklı oda-müzisyen-mekanda kaydedilmiştir. Kullanılan mikrofonların yönel karakteristiği ve kurulum şekillerinin deneklerin beğenileri üzerindeki etkileri üzerinde yorumda bulunulmuştur. Dinleme odaları da farklı ekipman ile donatılmış çeşitli oranda akustik düzenleme yapılmış üç farklı odadan seçilmiştir.
