Birincisi, klasik iletim yolu analizi uzun zaman alan testler gerektirmektedir.
dc.description.abstract The vibration and noise performance especially on drive quality and travel comfort has become one of the most important issues in automotive sector. Vehicle vibration and noise problems depending on various parameters consist of three main components which are; (i) noise or vibration source, (ii) transfer path which provides these noise and vibration signals reach to the receiver and (iii) the receiver exposed to these vibration and noise. In general, there are two main approaches to solve vibration and noise problems. The first approach focuses on identification of the noise and vibration sources and entails modifications on these sources. The second approach focuses identification and improvement of noise and vibration transfer paths of the system. The purpose of a transfer path analysis is to determine which paths are dominant in transmitting vibrations or noise from one or several sources to one or more receivers. Transfer path analysis has evolved into a widely used tool for noise and vibration troubleshooting in industry. But methods which are used in classical transfer path analysis have some limitations. Several new approaches, such as operational transfer path analysis, have appeared over the last few years attempting to circumvent these limitations. The purposes of this thesis are examination of theoretical aspects of classical and operational transfer path analysis, building a numerical program to be used in numerical simulations of classical and operational transfer path analysis and performing transfer path analysis with both classical and operational methods. In order to achieve objectives of this thesis, theoretical information about operational and classical transfer path analysis in literature is compiled first. Then, classical and operational transfer path analyses are performed on a test system developed for testing and validation purposes. In addition, for both classical and operational transfer path analysis, numerical solver programs are created by using MATLAB program. In the last stage, classical and operational transfer path analysis methods are compared by considering analysis results. In classical transfer path analysis, the acoustic and vibration responses at the target locations are expressed as a sum of path contributions each associated with an individual path and load. Classical transfer path analysis approach allows expressing individual path contributions as a result of multiplying two terms. These terms are operational loads acting on the passive side of system and the frequency response function of each transfer path between the load location and the receiver point. In order to obtain these two terms, classical transfer path analysis has two main steps. The first step is measuring the frequency response function of each transfer path. The second step of transfer path analysis is identification of the operational loads for both structural and acoustic transfer paths during operational tests. Transfer functions for structural transfer paths can be measured by hammer or shaker excitation techniques. Within the scope of this thesis, tests for classical and operational transfer path analysis were performed using a test rig which can be utilised in two different test configurations. In first test configuration, the test system is hanged to a test rig and operational conditions acting on the system created by using shakers. In the second test configuration, the test rig is supported on elastic wedges and excited by electric motor. In both of these two different boundary and excitation conditions, classical transfer path analysis is performed for each operational condition. In first stage of classical transfer path analysis tests, in order to prevent interaction between transfer paths, the FRFs between transfer paths and receivers are measured by excitation of modal hammer with the source side disconnected from the target side for each examined transfer paths individually. The second step of tests for classical transfer path analysis is the identification of operational loads acting on passive side of system. Under the scope of this thesis, discussions are limited to only to structural transfer paths. For structural operational loads, there are three main techniques to obtain operational forces; direct measurement, complex stiffness method and matrix inversion method. In direct measurement method, operational forces can be obtained from direct measurement using special load cells. The second approach is the so-called complex stiffness method which can be used when the active and passive system components are connected with flexible mounts. For transfer paths which have rigid connections or where the mount stiffness is very large compared to the body impedance, using minimum relative displacement over the mount is not possible. At this point another technique called matrix inversion method can be used, which is based on using inversion of acceleration-force matrix between structural responses on receiver side due to force excitation at all transfer paths. In this method acceleration values obtained from operational test is multiplied by inverse of acceleration-force matrix to find operational forces of examined operational conditions. Within the scope of this thesis matrix inversion method is used to obtain operational forces acting on passive subsystem because of the fact that the active and passive sides of test rig have rigid connections. Today classic transfer path analysis method is well-known and commonly used technique to improve noise and vibration performance of a vehicle. On the other hand, the classical transfer path analysis technique as mentioned above, identify the transfer functions for transfer path under examination when the passive side of system is disassembled from active side of system to eliminate flanking transfer paths. But this situation leads to two major disadvantages. The first disadvantage is that this disassembling procedure results in long measurement times. Other disadvantage of this procedure is that the boundary conditions are not the same as those under operational conditions due to disassembling procedure. In recent years, new methods have been developed to resolve the shortcomings of classical transfer path analysis. One of these methods is called operational transfer path analysis which is designed to achieve the objectives by using only operational data with the application of transmissibility concept. There are two main differences between classical transfer path analysis and operational path analysis. In contrary to the classical transfer path analysis, operational transfer path analysis uses only operational responses that are collected under operational conditions instead of computed operational loads. The second difference is that, the operational transfer path analysis uses transmissibility functions instead of noise transfer functions in classical approach. Transmissibility function represents the characteristic relation between two response functions of system. In this thesis, for all boundary and excitation conditions of test system, classical and operational transfer path analyses are performed to compare classical and operational transfer path analysis with each other in terms of their performances. Additionally, extra tests are performed for different operational conditions on test rigs so as to assess the robustness of the numerical program developed by Author of this thesis for operational transfer path analysis. In practice, operational transfer path analysis could suffer from bad conditioning problems. The operational transfer path analysis usually employs the singular value decomposition algorithm in order to prevent such bad conditioning problems while describing the transfer functions. Using SVD technique is an essential step for transfer function estimation in order to prevent from measurement noise and other external disturbances. As recommended in literature, SVD algorithm is also used in the numerical solver program which was generated for this thesis in operational transfer path analysis study. The results of experimental studies reveal that, the reference signal obtained by classical transfer path analysis do not correlate well with the measured reference signal. On the other hand, the reference signal obtained by operational transfer path analysis agrees very well with the measured reference signal. As a result of analyses carried out with the scope of this thesis, it can be said that due to the separation of the active and passive sides of individual transfer paths, classical transfer path analysis does not express the actual dynamic behaviour of the real system. For this reason, it is difficult to obtain a good correlation between the measured and the computed reference signal by using classical transfer path analysis. On the other hand, in operational transfer path analysis, because measurements are carried when the system is operating under actual boundary conditions, operational transfer path analysis is capable of expressing the true dynamic behaviour of the system and gives correct contributions of transfer paths on reference signal. Furthermore, the transmissibility functions obtained from tests performed in operational transfer path analysis can be used with artificial input signals. Therefore, reference signal and contribution of transfer paths on this reference signal can be estimated using possible excitation scenarios or operating conditions without performing additional measurements. en_US
