In this study, compressible flow in the combustion chamber of a solid propellant rocket motor has been investigated. Geometrical model which is a simplified version of the combustion chamber consists of a long and narrow, two dimensional channel with one open end and injecting sidewalls. The mass injection from the porous sidewalls simulates the gas inflow due to the burning of the solid propellant. Cell centered MacCormack finite volume technique has been employed for the solution of governing equations. Numerical solutions have been obtained for two different models of solid propellant rocket motor combustion chamber. First model is a straight channel without any nozzle attached whereas in the latter gas exhaust is via a 30 degree diverging flat nozzle. Numerical solutions have been obtained by developing an original finite volume code. The results for steady flow are in excellent agreement with those for the incompressible and inviscid limit case.
