A multi-terminal component of which any of the H, Y, Z parameters is undefined, can be changed to a new multi-terminal component which has the desired parameters by adding new open circuit and shunt circuit ports. The new multi-terminal obtained by this way is called "augmented equivalent multi-terminal component". In the analysis of linear, time invariant networks, the method used for the analysis determines how the terminal characteristics of network components. Therefore a circuit component can be required to be expressible in terms of one of the proper H, Y, Z parameters. However one or even all H, Y, Z parameters can be undefined for a circuit component. There exist two possible approaches in this situation: Changing the circuit analysis method or changing the circuit component to its augmented equivalent. In this thesis, two different approaches are considered and it is examined that how is the applicable augmented multi-terminal component to circuit analysis techniques. In this thesis, basic circuit analysis and circuit partitioning techniques are examined. It is observed that using augmented equivalent multi-terminal components in circuit analysis techniques is advantageous and this property is provided as a theorem. In circuit partitioning techniques using augmented equivalent multi-terminal components have not significant advantages but it allows alternative approaches. In the first chapter, the concepts of multi-terminal component and augmented equivalent multi-terminal component are introduced and generation of augmented equivalent multi-terminal components is explained. In the second chapter some network analysis techniques, such as mesh analysis and nodal analysis are given. The conditions that multi-terminal components should satisfy in order to use this techniques, are investigated. How the circuit XI analysis should be done and how augmented equivalent multi-terminal component can be used are examined under the condition that these requirements are not satisfied. In third and fourth chapters, two circuit partitioning methods, branch tearing and node-tearing are examined respectively. When the circuit elemants do not have proper parameter matrices, it is presented that how these techniques should be applied and whether augmented equivalent multi-terminal component could be useful or not. Finally in te last chapter, the results are discussed.
