Perceived Sound Pressure Level Differences In Various Movie Theaters In Istanbul

Abstract

When you go to a movie theater as an audience, did you ever thought the sound levels were too high? If yes, what would be causing it? Was it the original mix made for this film or the mix of the film transfers differently on every different cinema system. This project examined and compared perceived sound pressure level differences of different movies (The Avengers: Infinity War and The Cleaning Lady) which were screened on various movie theaters in İstanbul. Do we see a distinct number of sound pressure level differences throughout the frequency spectrum between each movie theater based on these two movies? Can we prove these Sound Pressure Level (SPL) differences by comparing each different movie theater's analysis? These are the main aspects and concerns of this project. I approached the subject first as an audio engineer by analyzing collected data. Also, as a member of the audience, I compared the results with my personal inference.Bir sinemaya seyirci olarak gittiğinizde içerdeki ses seviyesinin fazla yüksek olduğunu düşündünüz mü? Bu proje, İstanbuldaki farklı sinema salonlarında gösterilen iki farklı filmin (The Avengers: Infinity War and The Cleaning Lady) algılanan ses seviyelerinde farklılıklar olup olmadığını araştırıyor ve karşılaştırıyor. Bu sinemalar arasında ele alınan iki filmin frekans spektrumu boyunca belirgin bir ses seviyesi farklılığı görüyor muyuz? Bu ses seviyesi farklılıklarını her farklı sinema salonu analizlerini karşılaştırarak ispat edebiliyor muyuz? Bu projedeki ana odağımız ve sorularımız bu yöndedir. Bir ses mühendisi olarak, bu konuya önce elde edilen verileri analiz ederek yaklaştım.
