Özet
Bu çalışma, İstanbul içme suyu arıtma tesislerinde TOK ve THM giderim verimlerini tayin etmeyi amaçlamıştır. Bu amaçla, bir yıl boyunca İstanbul içme suyu arıtma tesisleri çıkış suyunda THM ve TOK analizleri yapılmıştır. Bulunan en yüksek THM konsantrasyonları Büyükçekmece Tesisi için 86,4 g/L ve Kağıthane tesisi için 86,2 g/L’dir. Her iki tesis içinde THM konsantrasyonları Avrupa Birliği (AB) standardı olan 100 g/L’den düşük olduğu gözlenmiştir. Bu konsantrasyonlar yaz aylarında tespit edilmiştir. Sonuçlar, THM oluşumunun mevsime bağlı olduğunu ve Büyükçekmece su kaynağının yüksek miktarda bromür ve bromoform içerdiğini göstermiştir. Ayrıca TOK ve bulanıklık giderimi için koagülant madde olarak alüminyum-sülfat ve demir(III)-klorür kullanılması durumunda optimum doz ve pH sınırları belirlenmiş ve toz aktif karbon çalışması yapılmıştır. Jar test sonuçları organik madde gidermede demir(III)- klorür’ün alüminyum-sülfata kıyasla daha verimli olduğunu göstermiştir.
The study aims the determination of THM and TOC removal efficiency in Istanbul water treatment plants. For this purpose, treated drinking water samples were collected from the different water treatment plants during one year and were analyzed for THMs and total organic carbon (TOC). The TTHM of all Istanbul water treatment plants were found to be lower than the EC (European Community ) limit of 100 g/L. The highest TTHM concentration was determined as 86,2 g/L for Kağıthane Plant and 86,4 g/L for Büyükçekmece Plant. These concentrations were detected during summer 2001. Results show that THMs vary depending on the season. Büyükçekmece raw water contains high bromide levels and high bromoform concentrations were measured. A set of enhanced coagulation studies by using aluminum-sulphate and ferric-chloride as the coagulants were carried out in lab scale to determine the optimum dose and pH range for desired residual TOC levels in addition to turbidity. In addition, powdered activated carbon was tested. Jar test results indicate that ferric-chloride was more effective than alüminum-sulphate in removing natural organic matter.
