Abstract

In this paper, fixed step and adaptive control algorithms by using Hill Climb Search (HCS) method one of the Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) methods are proposed respectively for small scale permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) wind energy conversion systems (WECS). Basically, the controller tracks the maximum power point (MPP) by measurements of current or the ratio of change in power and voltage depending on different control algorithms. To succeed that, controller is dynamically adjusting the duty ratio of boost converter connected to output of WECS by considering needed measurements. The improvements or change observed in different control algorithms are demonstrated with the comparisons.
