A General Asymptotic Approximation to the Nonlinear Theory of Thin Elastic Plates

Abstract

An asymptotic theory which is a generalized version of that given in [1] and [2] for the thin linear elastic anisotropic plates undergoing large transverse displacements is derived. The nth order field equations are obtained. Particularly, the first order corrections are presented. The problem of an infinite strip under uniform face pressure is studied.
