Kültürel Ve Ergonomik Kriterler Doğrultusunda, Yeni Bir ‘a La Turca’ Tuvalet Taşı Tasarımı’

Abstract

Bu çalışmada, içinde gelişmiş oldukları kültüre, özden çok biçimsel olarak sadık kaldıkları gözlenen ‘A la Turca’ tuvalet taşlarının, varolan sorunlarından hareketle, bir tasarım problemi ortaya konulmaktadır. Çalışma, varolan ‘A la Turca’ tuvalet taşlarının yerine, kullanıcıya bağımlı kültürel ve nesnel kriterler doğrultusunda geliştirilmiş olarak, tercih edilebilecek bir yenisinin koyulabilmesi için, problemin belirlenme, analiz, çözüm ve bunların sınanması aşamalarını kapsamaktadır. Çalışma sürecinde, seramik endüstrisiyle de işbirliğine gidilerek, uygulama projesine dönüştürülen çözüm ile çözüm ve hipotezlerin sınanmasıyla, Türk kullanıcısının tuvalet alışkanlıklarının anlaşılabilmesi doğrultusunda yapılan bir durum çalışması gerçekleştirilmiştir. Sonuçlar literatürdeki çalışmalarla karşılaştırdırıldığında, tuvalet taşı tiplerinin gelişimine yön veren oturma, giyim biçimleri gibi kültürel ögeler ile bunların tuvalet taşları ile tarih içindeki etkileşimli gelişimleri arasındaki paralellikler ve elde edilen tasarım kriterlerinin, konu ile ilgili literatüre katkı sağladıkları gözlemlenmiştir. Bununla birlikte, geliştirilmiş olan çözümün, varolan ‘A la Turca’ tuvalet taşlarına göre, kullanıcıya bağımlı, ergonomik, anatomik, sağlık ve kültürel gereksinimlerin karşılanmasında, daha duyarlı olduğu düşünülmektedir. Hipotezlerle birlikte, çözümün de sınayıcısı olan durum çalışmasının ise, Türk kullanıcısının tuvalet alışkanlıkları ile ilgili olarak, konu ile ilgili literatüre katkı sağlamış olduğu umulmaktadır.

In this study, a design problem is put forward by referring to the existing problems of ‘A la Turca’ squat toilets which are observed to have been loyal to the culture in which they have developed formally rather than essentially. This study includes the stages of designation of the problem, analysis, solution and testing of these in order to replace the existing ‘A la Turca’ with one which can be preferred as it has been developed in accordance with the cultural and objective criteria depending on the user. During the research process, in cooperation with the ceramics industry, by testing the solution which have been transformed into application project and hypotheses, a survey has been conducted with the aim of understanding the habits of Turkish users. When the results are compared to the other studies in the literature, it has been observed that parallels between cultural elements like sitting, way of clothing which have directed the development of toilets and their interrelated development in history and the design criteria that have been obtained, have contributed to the literature about the subject. Nonetheless, it is believed that, when it is compared with the existing ‘A la Turca’ squat toilets, the developed solution is user oriented and thus it ismore sensitive to cultural, hygenic, ergonomic and anatomic needs. It is hoped that, the survey, which is the tester of the solution with the hypotheses, has contributed to the literature about the toilet habits of the Turkish users.
