Abstract
In this thesis, an experimental research study, within the scope of investigating the potential use of autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC) waste in soil stabilization, is represented. The Laboratory tests were executed in the Istanbul Technical University of Ord. Prof. Dr. Hamdi Peynircioğlu Soil Mechanics Laboratory. Three types of soil; high placticity bentonite clay (CH), low placticity clay (CL) and sand (SP), were used with waste AAC additive with the purpose of investigating how the additive affects the engineering properties of various soils. In addition to the plain soils, rates of 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, and 25% of AAC-soil mixture containing AAC waste by weight of dry soil, were prepared. The experimental program included tests such as particle size distribution, Proctor compaction, modified miniature Harvard compaction, particle density, unconfined compression, California bearing ratio (CBR), swelling and direct shear tests.
