Moving rough punch on an elastic half-space

Abstract

This paper is concerned ınith the investigation of the uniform motion of a rough rigid punch on the surface of an elastic half-space. A complex function technique is employed and the problem is reduced to a Hilbert problem in the plane, the solution of which is obtained by the Standard method. The general solution is specialized to the cases of rectangular and circular punches. Tables for some fundamental constants are given and pressure distributions are shown.
