Abstract
<p>The sources that cause air pollution are evaluated in two main groups; natural and anthropogenic sources, respectively. One of the anthropogenic sources; particulate matter has direct effect on climate change and air pollution.  Particulate matter exists in the atmosphere as solids or liquids.<strong> </strong>In terms of their diameters, they are classified into two main groups; PM<sub>10</sub> and PM<sub>2.5</sub>. The transport of atmospheric particles to the polar regions is a result of the prevailing winds, mainly. The prevailing wind direction in the Antarctic Region was observed to be Northeast and Southwest. The main purpose of this study is to compare PM<sub>10</sub> and PM<sub>2.5</sub> data and to determine the scope, level and effects of regional and long-distance PM<sub>2.5</sub> and PM<sub>10</sub> transport around Horseshoe Island, Antarctic. The data of the Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS) for the period 2018-2021 will be used.  And as another result it is aimed to investigate the Covid-19 pandemic impact over the region by means of particulate matter, as well.</p>
