Abstract
Bu çalışmada, p-kloroaril diazonyum tetrafloroborat tuzu, metilmetakrilat (MMA) monomerinin tersinir atom transfer radikal polimerizasyonunda başlatıcı olarak kullanılmıştır. Diazonyum tuzunun katalizlenmesi ve/veya ısısal bozunması sonucu oluşan radikallerin metal tuzu/amin kataliz varlığında, farklı sıcaklıklarda MMA’nın kontrollu polimerizasyonunu başlattığı gözlenmiştir. Genellikle tersinir ATRP yüksek sıcaklıklarda(60-100oC) gerçekleşmesine rağmen, bu çalışmada aryl diazonyum tuzu/Cuıı X2/Ligand sisteminin, metilmetakrilatın oda sıcaklığında da kontrollü polimerizasyonunu başlattığı bulunmuştur.
The controlled polymerization of methyl methacrylate (MMA) in bulk is initiated with p-chlorobenzenediazonium tetrafluoroborate (1) and Cu(II) and/or Cu(I) /N,N,N’,N’’,N’’-pentamethyldietylene- triamine (PMDETA) ligand at various temperatures (room temperature, 60 and 90oC). The polymerization mechanism is proposed as the Meerwein mechanism followed by a reverse ATRP. Aryl radicals formed by the reaction with 1 and PMDETA may then initiate the polymerization of MMA in the presence of Cu(II)/PMDETA complex. The polymerization is controlled up to a molecular weight of 40 000 at 90oC. The polymerization of MMA initiated by 1/CuBr / CuBr2/PMDETA is the faster than the system using CuBr2 only. The chain extension is carried out to confirm the controlled manner of the polymerization system. In all polymerization systems, polydispersity index and the initiator efficiency are in the range of 1.10-1.57 and 0.10-0.21, respectively.
