A mathematical relationship between the alpha-alumina content and ignition loss of alumina

Abstract

Abstract The objective of the present study was to investigate a mathematical relationship between the alpha-alumina content and ignition loss of alumina from Seydisehir, Turkey. The observed ignition loss was used to generate the mathematical relationship Z 1 =e −0.077 ·Z 2 (α 1 /α 2 ) −1.339 where, Z 1 is the percent ignition loss, Z 2 is the mean percentage ignition loss, α 1 is the percent alpha-alumina, α 2 is the mean percentage alpha-alumina. It was found that the logarithmic coordinates gave a linear relationship between α 1 / α 2 and Z 1 / Z 2 .
