Abstract

Smart homes offer various services to the daily life of people and allow residents to control and manage home appliances remotely using a smartphone or tablet through an internet connection. Although smart homes have many advantages, the adoption smart homes by individuals still does not meet expectations. For this reason, this study aims to investigate the factors affecting the adoption of smart home systems based on the extended Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). To achieve this purpose, an internet survey was conducted in Turkey. Data (N = 386) collected from the survey were analyzed using multivariate regression analysis and exploratory factor analysis. According to the results of exploratory factor analysis and reliability analysis, it was seen that 40 items were gathered under 13 factors as predicted. In addition, as a result of multivariate regression analysis, 11 out of 14 hypotheses were accepted while 3 hypotheses were rejected.
