A Problem in Plane Stress With Varying Thickness in Polar Co-ordinates

Abstract

In this paper, making use of Conway's results, a plane elasticity problem of varying thickness is solved by the aid of an appropriate stress function. The results ar e compared with those in the elementary theory and it is shown that the error in the maximum circumferential stress in the latter theory is within admissible values.
