Abstract

In this paper, an accurate closed-form expression of the outage probability (OP) is derived for one relay network coded and cooperative (NCC) wireless networks. Objective proves of error correction coding benefits are also provided using Reed-Solomon codes RS(n,k). All links are subject to Nakagami-m fading effect and transmitted signals are modulated using different orders of M-ary phase shift keying (M-PSK) constellations. Network coding operation is performed by application of bit-wise exclusive OR (XOR) at the relay. Simulation of the scenario where the relay is equipped with channel coding/decoding shows significant symbol error rate (SER) improvement. Simulation results show that channel coding gain in terms of SER increases with PSK modulation order M. Monte-Carlo simulations were conducted to validate the derived OP analytic expression.
