Abstract
In this study, elasto-plastic behaviors of functionally graded circular plates were investigated under low velocity impact loads both numerically and experimentally. The locally effective material properties were evaluated using homogenization method that is based on the MoriTanaka scheme. The TTO (Tamura-Tomota-Ozowa) model which relates the uniaxial stress and strain of a two phase composite to the corresponding average uniaxial stresses and strains of the two constituent materials were used for the elasto-plastic analysis. A finite element program LS-DYNA was used for the numerical analysis. After, functionally graded circular plates have different material compositions were manufactured with powder stacking method, and then low speed impact tests were carried out. Experimental results were compared to numerical results in order to improve the numerical model.
