Çalışmada, 19. yüzyıl İstanbul’ unda Alman mimari etkinliğinin kapsamı saptandı, etkinliğin İstanbul’ un mimari birikimine katkısı irdelendi, nitelik sorgulanırken gerisindeki tarihi arka planın rolü incelendi. Alman Kolonisi’ nin kuruluşu, Osmanlı-Alman İmparatorlukları arasında ilişkiler, ekonomik açıdan Bağdat Demiryolları projesi ve 19. yüzyılda İstanbul’ da mevcut mimari durum tespiti ile tarihi çerçeve oluşturuldu. 19. yüzyıl İstanbul’ unda Alman mimari etkinliğine katkıda bulunan kişiler: Joseph Antony, Giovanni Battista Barborini, German Bestelmeyer, Carlitzik Cingria, M.F. Cumin, Helmuth Cuno, Wilhelm Dörpfeld, Charles Garnier, Hubert Göbbels, Heiss, Herzog, Hirzel, Franz Humann, Imhoff, August Jasmund, Otto Kapp von Gültstein, Albert Kortüm, Konrad Lehmann, H. Meissner, Anton Ignaz Melling, Helmuth von Moltke, von Pelser-Behrensberg, Pfister, Otto Ritter, Scheele, Schwatlo(w), Seefelder, Guglielmo Semprini, Max Spitta, Giorgio Domenico Stampa, Suffrian ve Armin Wegner olarak belirlendi. Çalışmaya konu olan mimari çalışmalar: Hatice Sultan Sarayı, Beşiktaş Sarayı, İstanbul İmar Planı, Alman Elçilik Sarayı, Alman Sefaret Yazlığı, Alman Çeşmesi, Alman Protestan Kilisesi, Alman Hastanesi, Alman Okulları, Teutonia Alman Klübü, Alman Postanesi, Sirkeci Garı, Haydarpaşa Garı, Rumeli Hanı, Germina Han, Ragıp Paşa Köşkleri, Galata Köprüsü, değirmenler-tahıl depoları ve Dostluk Yurdu projesidir.
The aim of this study was the extent of such activity in the 19th Century, the contribution of German architecture to the architectural realm of Istanbul. The historical background was also studied to discover the effects of the events of the period on architecture. The establishment of the German Colony was introduced, followed by the initiation of relations between the Ottoman and German Empires. The presentation of the Bagdad Railway Project was included. The historical picture was completed by a description of the architectural texture during that period. The name list of the architects being part of the German activity in İstanbul in the 19th century: Joseph Antony, Giovanni Battista Barborini, German Bestelmeyer, Carlitzik Cingria, M.F. Cumin, Helmuth Cuno, Wilhelm Dörpfeld, Charles Garnier, Hubert Göbbels, Heiss, Herzog, Hirzel, Franz Humann, Imhoff, August Jasmund, Otto Kapp von Gültstein, Albert Kortüm, Konrad Lehmann, H. Meissner, Anton Ignaz Melling, Helmuth von Moltke, von Pelser-Behrensberg, Pfister, Otto Ritter, Scheele, Schwatlo(w), Seefelder, Guglielmo Semprini, Max Spitta, Giorgio Domenico Stampa, Suffrian ve Armin Wegner.
