Abstract
İçmesuyunda klorlama işlemi süresince, klor doğal organik maddelerle (DOM) reaksiyona girerek trihalometan (THM) ve haloasetik asit (HAA) gibi insan sağlığına zararlı olduğu belirtilen dezenfeksiyon yan ürünlerini (DYÜ) meydana getirir. Zenginleştirilmiş koagülasyon metodu, sudaki toplam DYÜ öcü bileşiklerini gidererek içme suyundaki DYÜ oluşumunu azaltan bir arıtma tekniğidir. Bilimsel olarak, organik maddenin koagülasyonla giderilmesi, sudaki organik maddenin konsantrasyonuna, doğal organik maddenin kimyasal yapısına ve bileşimine, koagülant türüne, koagülant dozuna ve koagülasyon pH’ına bağlıdır. Günümüzde, içme suyu arıtma tesislerinin en önemli problemlerinden biri sudaki doğal organik madde (DOM) yi minimize etme konusunda güçlüklerle karşılaşmalarıdır. Bu çalışmanın amacı İstanbul’un en önemli yüzeysel su kaynaklarından Terkos, Büyükçekmece ve Ömerli Göl sularında zenginleştirilmiş koagülasyonla organik madde giderimini araştırmaktır. Bu kapsamda, söz konusu su kaynaklarında bir seri jar testi deneyleri gerçekleştirilerek, zenginleştirilmiş koagülasyon prosesinin çözünmüş organik karbon (ÇOK), 254 nm dalga boyundaki ultraviyole absorbans (UV254), ve THM oluşum potansiyeli (THMOP) arıtma verimi belirlenmeye çalışılmıştır.
Chlorination of raw water results in production of disinfection by-products (DBP) of trihalomethanes (THM) and haloacetic acids (HAA). Enhanced coagulation is a THM precursor treatment technique with the objective of removing dissolved organic carbon (DOC) to control THM formation in water. Scientifically, the removal of organic matter by coagulation depends on the DOC concentration, the chemical nature of the DOC, coagulant type, coagulant dosage, and coagulation pH. Currently, water treatment plants are practicing enhanced coagulation to further increase THM precursor removal in water worldwide. The focus of this study was aimed to investigate enhanced coagulation of organic matter removal in Terkos, Büyükçekmece and Ömerli Lake Waters the main water supplies of Istanbul City. In the study, jar test experiments were conducted to determine the effectiveness of enhanced coagulation for removal of DOC, UV254 and THM formation potential (THMFP) from these three water sources.
